Neighbourhood Victim Advocacy Program

The Neighbourhood Victim Advocacy (NVA) Program serves victims of crime and sudden tragedies in designated communities by providing case management, advocacy and, crisis intervention such as:

  • safety planning, emergency accommodation/shelter, food, and basic necessities;
  • Intensive case management support including systems navigation, referrals, linkages and advocacy; and
  • Establishing and developing deeper community connections including outreach initiatives and knowledge exchange.

To accomplish this, a diverse team of advocates who speak multiple languages and/or represent the diverse communities served are co-located within four local Toronto Police Services (TPS) divisions.

The designated communities include:

  • 31 Division - Jane Finch Community
  • 23 Division - Rexdale Community
  • 14 Division - Entertainment District & Parkdale Community
  • 43 Division - West Hill (Lawrence and Morningside) Community

Although we are located within police divisions, our NVA team can meet clients in their homes or community as well.

Members of the NVA Program sit on four partnering FOCUS situational tables and participate in ongoing knowledge exchanges with local grassroots organizations.
